Folk, singer/songwriter. Mostly written on the road, this album's major themes are relationships and loneliness. Sounds like Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons, and The Lumineers. Nathaniel Rateliff's raw voice and candid lyrics will move you. This album was meant to be listened to in a cabin in the woods, deep in introspection. FCC clean.
Recommended tracks: 1, 3, 6, 7
1. (4:10) - BON IVER. Soft strumming guitar with heart-wrenching vocals.
2. (3:57) - Another with soft guitar harmonies allowing his voice and lyrics to be the main focus.
3. (4:10) - He picks up the tempo. Sounds like Mumford and Sons. Catchy chorus. Goes from soft to loud vocals quickly.
4. (3:08) - Upbeat, catchy chorus, electric guitar, strong percussions
5. (2:37) - Soft and sorrowful
6. (4:09) - Up tempo, catchy, powerful vocals
7. (5:11) - Most unique song. Light, relaxed guitar/piano with jazzy vocals. Highly recommended!
8. (3:56) - Soft, simple guitar with harmonica. Slow and sad vocals
9. (5:31) - Starts out soft and slow like the rest. Builds up to a loud ending.
10. (3:39) - Sounds like track 5 and 8
11. (5:08) - Calm, but haunting. Weird electronic sounds over acoustic guitar chords.
