Great honky-tonk, hillbilly blues and rockabilly from Chuck Mead.
Recorded with his regular band the Grassy Knoll Boys. Mighty excellent.
– (3:29) Knee Deep In The Wakarusa River* Mid-tempo country crooner, fine steel.
– (5:18) The Devil By Their Side Chugging rock’n’roll tune about Civil War murder.
– (2:32) Neosho Valley Sue* Fine swinging number a la Bob Wills.
– (4:32) On A Slow Train Through Arkansas* Bluesy rocker, really soulful.
– (4:10) Little Ivy* Sad little song of abduction & murder, with banjo & dobro.
– (4:00) Evil Wind* Standout rockabilly shouter, about spreading mayhem.
– (2:31) Ten Light Years Away* Up-tempo tune about space aliens, fun.
– (3:13) Reno County Girl* Pretty country love ballad, really fine.
– (3:59) A Short Goodbye* Pulsating, primitive rocker, road song, nice.
– (3:18) The Light Of Day* Funny ¾ time morning-after weeper, terrific.
– (3:16) Ain’t Nothing Like The Love Of A Woman* Cajun-style song of redemption.
– (3:26) Sittin’ On Top Of The Bottom* Growling, gritty rocker from the gutter.
