The Falls—Into the Fire
Review by Luis A. Apolaya
It can be strange to listen to the soothing and passionate melodies this Australian duo has made and keep in mind that their musical endeavors came as a result of their failed relationship. In any case, good stuff with guitar, piano, and strings, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Recommended: 1, 2, 3. RIYL Early Arcade Fire, Belle and Sebastian, the Shins. NO FCCs.
**1. (3:12) Mid-tempo, very nice acoustic guitar, mellifluous strings come in halfway, the duo sounds so beautiful when singing together.
**2. (3:33) Mid-tempo, soft rhythm to start, though it has that peppy commercial music feel it sounds very organic and real, features a blow-organ, halfway through the rhythm picks up and everything sounds more passionate
**3. (3:34) Mid-tempo, happy guitars, happy clapping, happy strings, happy vocals, everyone and everything is happy, feel-good homely song
*4. (4:18) Slow, melancholy and longing, finishes off with emotional outburst of strings and piano.
5. (3:01) Pleasantly excited tempo, has a modern country feel to it
*6. (4:02) Slow-mid, guitar riff feels slightly off-key, builds up gradually as percussion and other instruments come in, feels like it will reach its climax soon but doesn’t
